Hi, I'm Alex, an Englishman living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2001. I do graphic design, and web & software development. That is, I grok HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ruby, Python, PHP, Objective-C, Java, and anything else you could throw at me. (See also, total nerd.)
I've been hacking on code and the web since the late-90s, most notably as original author of Gedit; finally attending art school 2001–2005. Since then I've been doing my part for free culture as Senior Designer at Creative Commons.
When not being a computer nerd, you'll often find me on a motorcycle (SV650), or in a sports car (Miata), on the amazing Bay Area back roads.
I also have a cat, she's a bit of a fatty.
This site is running on a custom, Rails 3 based, CMS dubbed Portishead. Similarities to other CMSes is purely coincidental. I'm pretty proud of it. Licensed with the very liberal MIT license, you can snag the source from its Github repository.
